Silverstone Track Recording
One cold and blustery January morning myself and sound designer George Marinov headed 100 miles north to the Silverstone Race Circuit. Silverstone had kindly arranged for us to capture some octane fuelled audio for an upcoming promo INK were producing for them.
After being introduced to our ‘tame’ racing driver, Steve, he fired up the Lambo and shouted “Is this loud enough for you!” with beaming smiles we replied “Hell yea!” Our morning was spent thrashing the car around the circuit, Steve drove the car like a man possessed, throwing the car in and out of corners exclaiming, “I’m gonna make these tyres hurt!”
Following a spot of lunch we were introduced to the United Race team, the team competes in the GT3 European Championship racing an Audi R8 LMS in events such as the race Spa 24hrs. The guys kindly allowed us access to their garage and pit box, as well as kindly permitting us to record the historic testing of their privately owned Benetton B191B, Michael Schumacher’s 1992 maiden podium winning car.
The result of the day was the creation of an epic asset library of V10 tunes for us to incorporate into the film.
Thanks Silverstone, overall a pretty good day at work!
